Lunar eclipse, take 2

I didn’t take pictures as often as I wanted to through the eclipse, and gave up at totality rather than staying up half the night to capture the other half, so my collection isn’t half as good as Nathan’s. He does have a bit of an equipment advantage over me too – at least that’s my excuse!

Anyway, to cut to the chase, here’s what I ended up with:

Overall I’m quite pleased with how this turned out. It would have been nice to have the time to take more shots, and to shoot the other half of the eclipse too. Maybe next time…!

  1. That’s really good Steve. It really shows how dark the moon gets when fully eclipsed.
The reason I had that camera was because I borrowed it of the photographic society, and I had to stay up till nearly 2am since half the laundry machines are broken in Heronbank. So we have 3 washing machines for over 1000 people. The only time you can do your washing is in the wee hours of the morning! So I had to stay up really =)

  2. Despite your reminder I forgot about the eclipse until after totality, took some half-hearted shots but realised that the contrast was too high to be worth bothering with and gave up :)

I’m full of admiration for those who persevere at these things like yourself and especially Nathan.

It did have the side effect of making me tidy up my collection of tripod bits and pieces today so that next time I’ll be able to find them ;)
